Contact’s TCC plant may give way to Rankines

 Contact Energy’s 20-year-old gas-fired Taranaki Combined Cycle plant could be retired in favour of the greater flexibility provided by Genesis Energy’s dual-fuel Rankine units at Huntly.

Contact faces a $50 million-plus investment at TCC in order to keep the plant running beyond 2022 – the same year the contracts Genesis holds to underpin the Rankine operations expire.
