One fun thing: TV is lovely
Today's one fun thing takes us all back to a simpler time. With accents.
I was 10 years old in 1977 and remember the huge impact of television on my previously isolated world on a dairy farm.
This short video vox pop via BBC Archives on Twitter is another reminder of how quickly things have changed and the enormous impact of new technology. Remember, this was in the days before smart televisions, smart phones and...email. It's delightful. My favourite show as a 10 year old was 'A Dog's Show', which started in 1977 and was on a Sunday night just before the news. It ran for 15 years. Here's an episode for fun. And here's Bret McKenzie telling Conan O'Brien about 'A Dog's Show' (1:35 onwards) seven years ago.
"#OnThisDay 1977: Thanks for the Memory - The Viewer's View asked people what they thought about television. This woman was likely approached for a snappy vox pop, but ended up delivering something closer to a dramatic monologue. Fantastic stuff."
